Carbon Underwriting Limited (Carbon) and Alta Signa Europe B.V. (Alta Signa) have announced key leadership appointments.
Carbon has welcomed Paddy Byrne (pictured left) as its new chairman and Michael Watson as a non-executive director, following the departure of Rupert Atkin. Meanwhile, Alta Signa has expanded its cyber underwriting division with the appointment of Audrey Louche (pictured right).
According to a news release, Atkin has played a key role in establishing Carbon’s position in the delegated underwriting authority (DUA) sector within Lloyd’s.
Byrne brings experience in both insurance and technology, having previously held senior roles, including senior non-executive at SRG Group, chairman of 6point6 Ltd, and executive director UK of Xchanging Ltd. Watson, the founder of Canopius and a former member of the Council of Lloyd’s, adds extensive leadership experience and a broad network within the insurance industry.
“Rupert’s leadership since taking the helm as chairman in Carbon’s early stages, has been pivotal in accelerating our growth. His wisdom and steady hand helped shape us into a market leader in DUA business at Lloyd’s. On behalf of the entire team, I want to express my heartfelt thanks and best wishes for his next chapter,” said Nick Tye, founder and CEO of Carbon.
“As we look to the future, we are delighted to welcome Paddy and Michael to our board. Their combined entrepreneurial spirit, deep underwriting expertise, and proven track records in navigating and scaling complex businesses make them the perfect addition to our team.”
European boutique managing general agent (MGA) Alta Signa has highlighted its intention to strengthen its cyber underwriting capabilities with the appointment of Louche to its cyber division.
Based in France, Louche brings extensive experience in underwriting cyber risks, having previously worked at Cogitanda, Assurup, and Chubb. The MGA lauded Louche’s expertise in cyber risk management, particularly in navigating regulatory challenges for French SMEs and large-cap companies.
“Cyber risk is one of the most dynamic and high-stakes areas of insurance today, and businesses – particularly SMEs – are under increasing pressure to stay ahead of ever-more sophisticated threats,” said Ingo Trede, European head of technical underwriting at Alta Signa. “Audrey’s experience and forward-thinking approach make her a perfect fit for Alta Signa.”
