An insurance shop in Canvey, Essex is in shambles after a car crashed into its front window following a police chase on Wednesday.
The Braintree and Witham Times reported that a blue BMW ploughed into the office of C&S Insurance along Haven Road around 3pm.
A photo tweeted by the Essex Police showed the insurance shop completely caved in by the vehicle.
According to the report, an Essex Police spokeswoman confirmed that the car was being chased by the authorities right before the crash. She said the driver was suspected of taking the vehicle without consent.
“Officers tried to stop a blue BMW that was driving in Canvey Way,”
The Braintree and Witham Times quoted the spokeswoman as saying.
“The vehicle failed to stop and was then in collision with the building,” she said.
The spokeswoman said the vehicle’s 23-year-old female driver has been arrested and remains in custody. Police are still looking for one passenger.
Essex Live reported that nobody was injured from the crash but it caused long tailbacks in the area.
“I feel sorry for the staff at the insurance company,” a witness of the incident told the news website.
