Global specialty (re)insurer Canopius has appointed Jennie Rimmer, who trained with KPMG and has more than 25 years of experience in financial services, as its new head of tax.
Rimmer joins Canopius from Randall & Quilter (R&Q), where she was the head of group tax. She also held the group head of tax role at Aspen, Lockton, and Jardine Lloyd Thompson, respectively. Currently, she chairs the Tax Committee of the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) and is a trustee and council member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
Rimmer will replace outgoing head of tax Andrew Cohen, who will retire after the end of the financial year. In her new role, she will report to Canopius chief financial officer Gavin Phillips.

Commenting on Rimmer’s appointment, Phillips said: “Jennie brings a breadth of experience of the Lloyd’s market and has significant knowledge of both the UK and international tax jurisdictions, and we believe she will be the perfect cultural fit for Canopius.
“Through all our discussions, Jennie was the individual who most ably articulated how she would balance the role between maintaining our strong tax compliance track record and supporting the broader business growth agenda across all our geographies.”
Phillips also thanked Cohen for his decades-long service at Canopius: “I’d like to thank Andrew personally for his dedication and excellent service to Canopius over the past 20 years. We wish him well in retirement.”
Rimmer’s appointment follows the promotion of Neil Robertson from deputy group CEO to group CEO at Canopius.
