The Bspoke Group has appointed Adrian Ewington (pictured above) as managing director of Bspoke Private Clients, a specialist MGA focused on mid and high net worth clients.

Ewington brings over 30 years of experience in the UK personal lines market, with a focus on the mid and high net worth sectors for the past 15 years. He specialises in business strategy, performance delivery growth, and customer service.

Ewington began his career with General Accident (now Aviva) in 1992, followed by two years at Willis Corroon (now WTW) and over 20 years at Allianz UK in various leadership roles. He spent 13 years at Home & Legacy Insurance Services, most recently as underwriting & market director. He is ACII qualified, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and an experienced coach and mentor.

The expanded private clients team will be led by Ewington and Jonathan Kitchen, with the latter serving as underwriting director.

Ewington will be joined by other former Home & Legacy colleagues, including Nicole Russell, Oonagh Berry, Chris Tysoe, and Chris Coakley. To support their growth plans, the team announced that it is actively recruiting mid and high net worth specialist underwriters, with several new appointments expected by the end of the year.

Ewington said that combining ex-Home & Legacy experts with the existing Bspoke Private Clients high net worth team would create a powerful combination that will quickly make a significant impact in the sector.

“We are hugely ambitious for the business; our brief is to deliver sustained profitable growth, making full use of our data analytics capability sitting alongside seasoned underwriters who really understand this market,” he said.

Ewington emphasised their strong relationships with brokers, focusing on high-quality service to build deep relationships with clients.

“We will continue to deliver the best service quality for our broker partners and it’s fantastic to have the brand strength of Bspoke Group behind the team,” Ewington said.

Tim Smyth, CEO of Bspoke Group, stated that Bspoke Private Clients represents the next development in the group’s portfolio following its rebrand in 2023.

“The business will sit alongside other specialist products within the Bspoke commercial division of the group, with a direct reporting line to Nick Grazier, Bspoke Commercial Ltd managing director, and will be a major factor behind our ambitious plans for profitable growth this year and beyond,” Smyth said.

Smyth expressed admiration for the skills and experience within the Home & Legacy unit, noting that Ewington was an obvious choice to enhance the team's capabilities.

“It’s great to have someone of his calibre sitting alongside Jonathan [Kitchen], and I’m confident that it will quickly become a ‘name to watch’ in the HNW space. We have already seen a significant uptick in organic growth since we rebranded last year, and I am confident that we’ll be able to maintain this trajectory in 2024,” Smyth said.
