Independent brokerage Brunel Professions is hoping to take its clients’ cyber experience to a new level after securing a partnership with a cyber risk management specialist.
The company is teaming up with KYND to offer technology that can be applied to any business while eliminating the need to fill in a lengthy questionnaire to assess a firm’s exposure – instead the company’s domain does a full assessment.
According to Brunel Professions managing director Dylan Hughes, the partnership is particularly timely given the COVID-19 outbreak which has seen many firms turn to remote work and, in turn, prompted a rise in malicious software compromising computer systems.
“When KYND came in to present their product it was refreshing to see all that was required was a domain name to quickly produce a report flagging our client’s cyber exposure,” he said. “The world of IT can be confusing. Generally, clients appoint IT firms, their computers work, and trade is efficient.
“When we discuss cyber insurance with businesses, the common response is ‘our IT company have it covered’. However, we are finding often they do not and there are large exposures which are not being detected by IT providers. The cyber world and exposures are changing daily which means that these reports become priceless to indemnifying new exposure. Businesses put a huge reliance on the expertise of their IT provider. It was worrying to see how many areas a business was exposed to and how cyber criminals are finding it so easy to hack SMEs.”
The firm noted that cyber insurance is available for as little as £150 + IPT – and can be a vital tool should the worst occur.
