BPL, a global broker specialising in credit and political risk insurance (CPRI), has appointed Catherine Aubert as director.
Aubert, who brings nearly 30 years of experience to the firm, will focus on strategy, client service, and professional support. Her role will include advising on corporate structure and direction, supporting BPL teams with key clients, and promoting a broader use of CPRI products across a wider range of users.
Aubert's background in banking positions her to enhance BPL’s risk management strategies and client service delivery, it was explained. She will also offer mentorship and guidance to the largest CPRI-dedicated broking team in the market.
Aubert joins from Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking, where she spent 25 years as managing director, building and leading the bank's credit insurance distribution division.
Reporting to BPL’s group CEO, Sian Aspinall, Aubert will primarily work from the Paris office, collaborating closely with the London office.
In a statement, Aspinall commented that Aubert has been a prominent figure in the CPRI market for years and that BPL had witnessed her strategic expertise firsthand.
“Given her informed perspective and expertise, it made perfect sense to invite Catherine to join us – we have no doubt of the tremendous value she will bring, and we are delighted to have her on board,” Aspinall said.
Aubert, reflecting on her new role, noted that after 25 years at Société Générale, she looks forward to the new challenge.
“Having had the opportunity to get to know BPL for 25 years, I have been continually impressed on how they deliver in all situations – even amid high pressure and complexity,” she said. “Committed relationships have been key to the business’s success as well as the values with which I identify: fairness, transparency, ethics, expertise, client focus and care, with always a solutions-oriented, win-win approach. I look forward to my next chapter in the market at BPL.”
Aubert holds an MSc in Management from EDHEC Business School and studied communications at CELSA Sorbonne University. Her appointment also comes ahead of the 25th anniversary of BPL’s Paris office next year.
Earlier this year, the firm also announced a collaboration with Allianz Trade to enhance the efficiency of how underwriters and brokers share enquiry data. This initiative uses application programming interface (API) integration via the digital trading platform Whitespace.
