We like to think we do insurance events pretty well here at Insurance Business, as last week’s Women in Insurance Conference proved. However, there is no doubt over the biggest event on the calendar for insurance brokers in the UK – the annual British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) Conference.
The question “what are your plans for BIBA this year?” have become commonplace throughout the industry – whether it’s insurers planning blockbuster stands, or brokers trying to sort through their accommodation and train travel early. Today, however, the association itself has revealed its own plans – by unveiling the conference theme for 2020.
As was already known, the event will be returning to Manchester next year, once again in the halls of Manchester Central, this time on May 13-14. The theme this time around, however, will be A Year to Pioneer – one that is meant to inspire the sector as the UK embarks on what is likely to be a new era with its changing relationship with Europe, new technologies, new markets and new sentiments that are forcing businesses to think differently.
“We have been talking about change for some time and 2020 really is the year for us to overcome the new challenges we all face,” said BIBA CEO Steve White. “Technology is an enabler and seizing its potential could help us to address the developing needs of customers. Understanding that the world expects businesses to not only provide products and services that work, but also to embrace sustainability, wellbeing and different mindsets is essential.
“A Year to Pioneer builds upon last year’s conference theme of leading the way, highlighting brokers’ ability to overcome issues and clear a path for others to follow.”
Exhibition space at the event goes on sale today.
