The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has announced “A New Era” as the theme for its 2025 conference, reflecting on the profound changes the insurance industry has undergone over the past quarter-century while charting a forward-looking course. The BIBA Conference 2025 aims to explore the challenges, innovations, and opportunities shaping the future of insurance broking, a news release noted.

Scheduled for May 14–15, 2025, at Manchester Central, the event will address how brokers can adapt to and anticipate emerging risks in a dynamic landscape.

Graeme Trudgill, BIBA’s CEO, highlighted the significant transformations the industry has experienced since the millennium.

“We have experienced much change in the last 25 years: Seven Prime Ministers, a new regulator (the FCA) and its subsequent rules, Brexit, a cost-of-living crisis and changing risks,” Trudgill noted. “Now is the time to look forward with a fresh perspective on what’s to come, and I know that our members will find insurance solutions for the new risks people and businesses will face as we enter ‘A New Era’ of broking.”

Trudgill emphasised the role brokers play in addressing the challenges shaping the sector’s future.

The BIBA Conference is a large insurance broking exhibition, drawing over 9,500 attendees and more than 230 exhibitors, including insurers, service providers, brokers, and software houses. In addition to its primary focus on fostering new connections and facilitating business opportunities, the event offers a packed schedule featuring industry and celebrity speakers across keynote, seminar, and fringe stages.

Trudgill noted that a highlight of the conference will be Young Broker Day on the second day, inviting young insurance professionals eager to advance their careers to attend and engage with the industry’s leading experts. BBC broadcaster Clive Myrie will host the two-day event.

“Revealing our conference theme each year is exciting for us, and launching ‘A New Era’ is exceptionally so,” said Emma Chapman, BIBA’s conference director. “Our seminar sessions will cover important topics including fair value, claims, regulation and capacity. We are also working hard on developing features that will enhance our attendees’ experience at the conference and we can’t wait to share more in the New Year.”

The conference opens at 8am on May 14 and concludes at 4pm on May 15. Registration details and additional announcements are expected in early 2025.
