Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has set up a new office in Stockholm to mark BHSI’s foray into the Nordic region.

The expansion includes the appointment of Anna Green as head of Nordics, with Karin Bryner taking on the role of executive & professional lines head and Anton Holmgren stepping in as head of general property for the Nordic countries.

Andreas Krause, head of DACH, BHSI, noted: “Launching BHSI in the Nordics is an exciting continuation of BHSI’s steady global expansion.

“We will continue to expand our local team and capabilities, and look forward to bringing the certainty of BHSI’s financial strength, underwriting acumen, and CLAIMS IS OUR PRODUCT philosophy to customers and distribution partners throughout Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland.”

The office in Sweden will immediately start underwriting executive & professional lines, general property, energy, and construction.

“We look forward to building a strong team in the Nordics and bringing BHSI’s commitment to excellent technical underwriting and highly responsive service to the market,” commented Green. “We have already had great response from brokers and customers.”

With a solid background in specialty and environmental underwriting, Green brings extensive industry knowledge to her role, having worked across the Nordics, Europe, the UK, and the Asia-Pacific region over her two-decade career. Before joining BHSI, she served as chief executive of another global insurer’s Swedish branch.

Bryner, meanwhile, brings more than 20 years of financial lines underwriting experience, with a significant focus on the Nordic market for over a decade. Her previous role was financial lines underwriting manager in Sweden for another firm.

Holmgren, the new head of property, has over a decade of property underwriting expertise. He has held senior underwriting positions, including Nordic head of underwriting for property, engineering lines, and marine.
