Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) continues its European expansion with the specialty insurer’s arrival in Spain.
In June the Boston-headquartered firm opened its office in Paris while July saw the addition of a Cologne site on top of the existing operations in Munich. Now the Madrid unit has been introduced, along with the appointment of country manager Ignacio Almazan.
In its new market, BHSI will initially underwrite property, casualty, financial lines as well as construction and engineering insurance before rolling out further product lines and services.
“Putting down roots in Spain enhances our ability to service both local customers and multinationals in Europe,” said BHSI UK and Europe president Chris Colahan. “Ignacio has extensive experience in the Spanish marketplace and we are excited to have him leading our effort to build our local presence and relationships.”
