West Sussex-based insurance broker Bennett Christmas has today announced its acquisition of the Warwickshire-based independent broker Offshore and Marine Insurance Services Ltd (OMIS). This purchase is the second that Bennett Christmas has made since it became an Ethos Broking partner in 2019.
OMIS, which is a provider of advice and insurance for the energy sector and manages £1.5 million GWP, will integrate into Bennett Christmas, and all staff will remain. The MD of Bennett Christmas, Tom Stripp noted that adding this specialist sector to the portfolio of the brokerage is an exciting step for the business and will provide it with a strong platform to drive future growth.
“The new Offshore & Marine team will provide specialist cover for businesses, people and equipment in sectors including the offshore industries, marine and subsea equipment, renewable energy, specialist recruitment and energy contractors,” he said.
Meanwhile, the M&A director for Ethos Broking, Vince Gardner stated that the acquisition fits well with Ethos Broking’s model of providing quality insurance products to general and also niche markets. The acquisition of OMIS is an opportunity for Bennett Christmas to expand its offering, he said, and he is sure that there will be more specialist acquisitions across Ethos Broking in the future.
