The British insurance arm of Barbican Insurance Group has formed a new marine insurance division targeting the UK SME market.
Barbican Protect’s new division will deliver a wide range of solutions, spanning annual marine cargo, hauliers, freight forwarders liability and freight forwarders online cargo.
“We see strong potential for growth in the UK marine insurance sector and firmly believe that our ability to deliver clearly defined, competitively priced, customer-focused insurance solutions will help us unlock that potential,” said Stuart Kilpatrick, managing director of Barbican Protect.
The insurer has appointed Sarah Joiner to the new division as a marine underwriter. She will be based in London, reporting to Kilpatrick.
“I look forward to helping to extend that quality of delivery into the marine insurance sector,” Joiner said.
Joiner has been in the marine sector for more than 10 years. She recently served as director and underwriter at Argosy Underwriting Agency which specialises in cargo insurance, hauliers and freight forwarders liability insurance.
Joiner also worked at Northern Marine Underwriters and ACIS Cargo Underwriting.
“She is a highly respected figure in the marine sector and I am confident that she will be able to spearhead our push into this market,” Kilpatrick said.
