UK terrorism reinsurer Pool Re has added major names to its board, including AXA UK & Ireland chief executive Claudio Gienal. Also joining is Alan Rubenstein, the chair of warranty and insurance provider NHBC.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Claudio and Alan to the Pool Re board,” said Pool Re CEO Julian Enoizi. “Their combined experience will be of huge benefit to us as we chart the future direction of Pool Re.
“Our board members are vital as part of stimulating further innovative thinking within the organisation and the industry as we continue to meet the challenges of the evolving terrorism threat together as well as the emergence of other systemic risks.”
Enoizi also thanked Alan Brown, who is leaving the board after 12 years and will be succeeded by Rubenstein as investment committee chair after Pool Re’s annual general meeting in June.
A former chief executive at the Pension Protection Fund, Rubenstein brings more than three decades of experience in pensions, insurance, asset management, and investment banking to Pool Re. His credentials also include time spent as a current non-executive director of esure Group Plc.
Gienal, meanwhile, oversees all of AXA’s business activities in the UK and Ireland while sitting on the boards of the Association of British Insurers and Swiss insurance start-up JAROWA. Prior to his foray into insurance via Zurich Insurance Group in 2008, Gienal worked at Accenture and McKinsey & Company.
“I very much look forward to working with Claudio and Alan,” added Enozi.
