AXA XL has announced the appointment of Lee Hayzelden as head of upstream energy for UK & Lloyd’s.
In this role, Hayzelden will lead the firm’s upstream energy team, which covers both offshore oil and gas as well as offshore renewable wind risks. He will be based in London, where he will further develop AXA XL’s upstream energy book through the expansion of the company’s energy transition proposition.
Hayzelden comes to AXA XL with over 20 years of experience in the London insurance market. According to his LinkedIn, he previously worked at RiskPoint Group as chief operating officer for offshore energy and marine. He also spent more than 14 years at Swiss Re across various roles, including head of offshore energy.
AXA XL UK & Lloyd’s head of energy, Nicola Harris, welcomed Hayzelden in his new post, saying that his knowledge of underwriting upstream energy risks will further support the company’s ambitions in the energy space.
“Upstream energy remains a strategic part of AXA XL’s energy portfolio and plays a key role in our energy transition offering. As a leader in this market, we’re committed to supporting our clients as they transition to a low-carbon economy,” Harris said.
Recently, AXA unveiled its half year results which noted that its total gross written premiums & other revenues were up 2% on a reported basis standing at €55.7 billion in H1 2023, compared to €54.9 billion in H1 2022.
