AXA XL has appointed Ana Dores (pictured above) as country manager for Iberia, effective March 1, subject to regulatory approval.
Dores will replace Enrique Lopez Torrents, who is leaving the company to pursue opportunities outside AXA Group.
She began her career with AIG in 2005 as a financial lines underwriter. She later worked at Liberty International Underwriters before joining AXA XL in 2014 as a senior professional indemnity underwriter. She was then promoted to deputy underwriting manager and then underwriting manager for international financial lines in Iberia.
In 2022, Dores was appointed chief underwriting officer, international financial lines, for the APAC & Europe business unit. In this role, she was responsible for underwriting strategy and portfolio management across multiple regions. She also joined AXA XL’s leadership team advisory council, contributing to key business initiatives.
As country manager for Iberia, Dores will oversee the company’s operations in Spain and Portugal. She will also be responsible for driving business growth, maintaining relationships with clients and brokers, as well as aligning local strategy with AXA XL’s broader European objectives.
“Ana is a well-known and respected figure in the Spanish market,” said Julien Guenot, regional manager for Southern Europe. “Her 20 years of experience in commercial lines, both in Spain and across the wider Europe and APAC regions, position her ideally to lead our teams in Spain and to continue to support our clients and brokers.”
AXA XL made several significant moves last year, including the appointment of Robert Riha as chief client and distribution officer for Asia-Pacific and Europe. The company also named Anne Marie Elder as global chief underwriting officer for specialty and Neil Cole as global chief underwriting officer for the marine sector.
