AXA UK & Ireland has announced the appointment of Rahul Gumber (pictured) as chief risk officer.
Pending regulatory approval, Gumber is succeeding David Baker, who has held the position for the past five years and is stepping down to pursue a portfolio of non-executive roles.
With a proven track record in developing high-performing rosters, Gumber is also a strong advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
Commenting on his career move, Gumber said: “I’m delighted to be returning to the UK to join AXA UK & Ireland at such an exciting time for this business.
“I look forward to supporting the future success of AXA UK&I and building on the great work David has done. AXA is a great company with a great brand, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team.”
Tara Foley, chief executive of AXA UK & Ireland, welcomed Gumber to the company, highlighting his extensive experience in the insurance sector.
“He has a deep understanding of the insurance sector, the regulatory landscape, and the commercial dynamics of our industry,” Foley noted. “His strong leadership qualities and strategic thinking are evident, as is his track record of building cohesive, high-performing teams.”
The CEO also took the opportunity to recognise Baker’s contributions, stating: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank David Baker for his support and commitment over the past five years and wish him the very best with his next exciting chapter.”
The C-suite hire comes on the heels of Suzy Tiffany being named retail claims director in August.
“I’m excited to be taking on the role of retail claims director at AXA Retail,” she said at the time. “This is a great business that provides innovative and flexible propositions, with customers at their heart. I’m looking forward to building on the brilliant work being done by the team.”
Meanwhile, for AXA’s group underwriting office, internal hires Guillaume Lejeune and Guy Van Hecke have been appointed as head of claims and head of ceded reinsurance for AXA, respectively.
