One week ago we brought you the news that
AXA was planning to move around 150 jobs out of Tunbridge Wells, in Kent – and now the plans have been confirmed.
According to
Kent News, employees at the Century Place office in the town will undergo redundancy consultations as the company relocates its direct motor claims customer operations team across to Birmingham. The move is expected to be completed by May, 2017.
Many jobs will remain in Tunbridge Wells, however, with AXA bosses stating that the other 147 staff spread across its technical and engineering teams will not be affected. Discussions are also said to be in progress with AXA PPP Healthcare about the possible redeployment of affected staff to its Tunbridge Wells office.
“After discussions between the union and management we have taken the decision to consolidate the direct motor operations staff in Birmingham to deliver a more consistent level of customer service,” said Kim Pearce, claims customer services director at AXA Insurance, as quoted in
Kent News.
“The change does not impact other staff based in the Tunbridge Wells Century Place office or AXA PPP Healthcare, a significant employer in the area.
“We are now consulting staff on an individual basis and are also in discussions with AXA PPP Healthcare to see if we can redeploy affected staff.”
