AXA UK and Ireland has appointed a new chief executive officer for its AXA PPP healthcare unit. Tracy Garrad will take up the post on January 07, 2019. She will replace Keith Gibbs, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Garrad has prior experience leading large financial services firms. She joins AXA PPP healthcare from HSBC, where she was CEO of HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, and prior to that she was CEO for leading UK bank, First Direct.

“I’m delighted that Tracy is joining AXA UK and Ireland as our new AXA PPP healthcare CEO,” said Claudio Gienal, chief executive, AXA UK & Ireland. “She brings a wealth of experience in large, complex, customer and people centric businesses and this, along with her excellent leadership skills, will further strengthen our management team. I very much look forward to working with her in the next phase for our healthcare business particularly as health continues to be a key strategic focus for the Group.”

Retiring CEO Gibbs joined AXA UK and Ireland in 2001 as the CEO for AXA PPP healthcare. He has successfully grown the business into a market leader in the healthcare space, while also sitting on the boards of AXA UK, AXA Insurance UK, AXA Global Health and AXA Venture Partners.

“I would like to thank Keith for his excellent contribution over the years,” Gienal added. “He has grown a strong business with an impressive financial performance and customer service focus while also developing innovative products to better meet our customers’ needs, putting in place some core foundations for the future. I wish him all the best for the future.”

Garrad’s appointment remains subject to regulatory approval.
