Australia-headquartered AUB Group has unveiled leadership appointments for its broking operations in the UK.
Subject to regulatory approval, Tom Wilson (pictured left) will become chief executive of London-based Lloyd’s broker Tysers on October 1, leading the wholesale broking business. Bob Pybus (pictured right), meanwhile, will have his title changed to AUB UK retail CEO.
Wilson’s leadership will cover key sectors including marine & aviation, property & casualty, speciality, and Tysers Live. A seasoned Lloyd’s broker with a distinguished career in senior management, Wilson previously served as head of Tysers marine & aviation.
Commenting on his new role, Wilson stated: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead Tysers and, with the support of an exceptionally talented senior management team, seize opportunities for growth and meet the increasing demand for specialist insurance expertise and technical skills in the London and international markets.”
Prior to Wilson’s appointment, AUB chief executive and managing director Mike Emmett served as interim CEO of Tysers. Former Tysers chief executive Clive Buesnel left at the end of August 2023, as agreed upon following Tyser’s sale to AUB.
As for Pybus, his remit will widen within AUB after previously serving as head of Tysers retail. With over four decades of industry experience, he will spearhead AUB’s retail broking expansion in the UK. Pybus is well-versed in business acquisitions, integrations, and risk management, bringing extensive leadership expertise to the post.
In his new position, the UK retail CEO will leverage AUB’s successful strategies developed in Australia and New Zealand to drive growth within the UK market.
“It’s a great privilege to have been appointed CEO of AUB UK Retail and shape what is sure to be an exciting future,” Pybus declared. “I’m very fortunate to work with a team of dedicated professionals to drive business growth and enhance the value we offer to brokers and clients.”
Meanwhile Emmett expressed confidence in the duo’s abilities, noting: “Tom and Bob have played significant roles in Tysers’ success story and are uniquely placed to steer the Tysers and UK retail businesses through their next stages of growth. They have deep market knowledge, a commitment to superior client service and are proven, strategic leaders.”
