In a move that may grab the attention of one Novak Djokovic, Jackson Lee Underwriting (JLU) has relaunched its Sports Travel Plus policy, now enhanced to cover for COVID-specific risks.
The relaunched Sports Travel Plus policy is a BIBA-approved scheme which now has new wording that covers more than 150 sports, each at a highly granular level, a release said. Designed to provide cover for sports enthusiasts, groups, and teams competing, participating, and training overseas, the scheme’s new wording includes coverage for non-standard aspects such as COVID cancellation, medical treatment costs, and repatriation, in addition to extra travel and accommodation expenses if the policyholder contracts COVID-19 overseas.
JLU’s revised policy also extends certain activities such as skiing to include a greater range of disciplines, and also has an option to cover for the policyholder’s gadgets such as smartphones and tablets.
“In the current market there is little travel insurance capacity for people training and competing overseas. It’s our mission to help keep professional, semi-professional and amateur sports people and teams competing at the top of their game,” said JLU senior travel underwriter Dipesh Patel.
Patel added that JLU’s “data-backed” Sports Travel Plus policy is “highly responsive, highly-specialist cover that not only meets the exacting needs of professional and semi-professional sport, but also offers a key differentiator for brokers, especially those looking to seek or retain affinity relationships with sporting associations.”
