It’s the end of an era for Atradius as it bids farewell to a company veteran – but as one door closes, a window has certainly opened.
Stuart Ramsden (pictured) is set to succeed Alun Sweeney in the role of regional director UK & Ireland for the firm, with Sweeney stepping down after more than a decade in the role and more than two decades with the firm. It had been expected that Sweeney, who previously spent time at the likes of Cornhill, Norwich Union and Eagle Star, would move into retirement this summer having had plans in place for a lengthy period. However, these plans were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and he will stay with the firm until the autumn to help with the transition.
In Ramsden, however, the company believes it has a capable successor – one who had held a host of senior positions across many firms, including a decade as country manager for Atradius Ireland.
“I am delighted to welcome Stuart to our leadership team and congratulate him on his appointment as regional director UK & Ireland,” said Andreas Tech, chief market officer at Atradius. “His vast experience in trade credit insurance ably equips him to take the baton from Alun and continue the positive momentum that our UK & Ireland region has established. Stuart steps into the role at one of the most challenging times that our industry has seen, I am confident that he will provide the leadership and guidance required to ensure that Atradius continues to deliver for our customers in the UK & Ireland.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Alun for the enormous contribution he has made to Atradius during his 21 years with our business. Through Alun’s leadership, the UK & Ireland region has developed substantially, and his legacy provides a strong platform to take the business forward into the future. I wish him a long and happy retirement.”
