Aston Lark, which came to life with the merger of Aston Scott and Lark Group, has completed its first international swoop.
The Corporate Chartered Insurance Broker now owns Irish firm Robertson Low. Among Ireland’s largest independent insurance brokerages, it was the first fully licenced Lloyd’s broker in the UK neighbour.
“We see Robertson Low as a great fit for the group as, like many of our other acquisitions, we share a very similar business ethos, putting customers at the heart of everything we do,” said Aston Lark in its announcement. “It will also provide us with the opportunity to develop more of our niche and specialist areas in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
“In addition, with the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, Robertson Low will be well placed, if required, to support the handling of our existing international business (both commercial and private client) and assist with our world-renowned Lark Music scheme.”
The acquired broker has offices not only in Dublin and Portlaoise but also in London. It has a workforce of 40 people.
Managing director Andy Low believes that, under Aston Lark’s ownership, Robertson Low will be able to further develop its wholesale offering for broker clients in its home market. In addition, the firm is keen to grow locally through targeted deals.
Meanwhile Aston Lark group chief executive Peter Blanc commented: “We’re delighted to welcome the Robertson Low team into the Aston Lark family. We will look to further expand our presence in Ireland with acquisitions over the coming years to cement Robertson Low’s position as one of the leading brokers in Ireland.”
