There is a new chairman of the Association of British Insurers’ prudential, financial and taxation committee – and his name is Tim Harris.

Harris, a finance director for Royal London, takes the hotseat from Andy Parsons, finance director for insurance at Lloyds Banking Group who is taking on a new role at the company.

Before arriving at Royal London, Mr Harris was group chief financial officer for Torus Insurance, as well as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and chief financial officer at Aviva.

According to ABI chairman Andy Briggs, Tim’s arrival comes at a crucial time with so many changes in the industry and he is “confident” that Harris can continue the good work started by Parsons.

Speaking about his appointment Mr Harris agreed about the significant challenges ahead for the industry to maintain its competitive position.

“I look forward to working with colleagues on the committee and as part of the ABI board, influencing government and regulators and helping the insurance industry rise to these challenges and benefit from the undoubted opportunities we currently face,” he said.
