As it looks to build on its long-term growth strategy, Ascot Group Limited has today announced the creation of a new stand-alone managing general agent.
The MGA will be named Ethos Specialty Insurance Services and will be headed by Michael Sillat as chief executive officer beginning on December 01. Sillat spent 15 years with WKFC Underwriting Managers, initially starting as chief financial officer before moving into the roles of chief operations officer and then president and chief executive from 2011 onwards.
“I am very much looking forward to joining the team and building what will be the preeminent MGA in the specialty arena,” said Sillat.
He is not the only new arrival announced by the firm. Sillat will be joined by Justin Meizlik who will take on the role of chief operating officer – Meizlik was previously head of audit and programme implementation at WKFC.
Speaking about the appointments, Andrew Brooks, chief executive officer of Ascot, believes both men will be vital to the new MGA’s success.
“Leadership, operations, and controls are key to building any successful business, especially where the strategy is a combination of organic growth and M&A, such as is the case for Ethos,” he said. “Michael and Justin’s multi-year experience in building and executing operating platforms for myriad MGAs and programmes will be invaluable as we begin to execute our strategy.”
