Arch Insurance International has announced key promotions within its casualty division, effective immediately. Arch said that the changes aim to align its leadership structure with its broader strategic goals.
Robin Hamilton (pictured above, left) has been named head of energy and marine liability, taking on responsibility for integrating the energy liability and marine liability teams. His role focuses on delivering combined solutions in these areas.
Meanwhile, Tony Flatman, who remains head of marine liability, will continue to manage the underwriting and portfolio oversight for the marine liability sector. Hamilton will report directly to James Mecham, head of casualty.
Hamilton joined Arch in 2018 as head of energy liability and previously held a partnership position at JLT Specialty.
Two additional appointments include Rory Thompson (pictured above, centre) and Marie-Claire Bessada (pictured above, right), who have been promoted to head of London market wholesale, general liability, and head of retail, general liability, respectively.
Their responsibilities include overseeing underwriting and portfolio management for their respective areas, as Arch seeks to expand its presence in the market. Both will report to Mecham.
Thompson, who began his underwriting career with Arch in 2014, and Bessada, who joined in 2019 after serving as deputy class underwriter for general liability at Chaucer, previously held roles as general liability portfolio managers.
Commenting on the changes, Mecham said the promotions align with Arch's growth strategy for the casualty division.
“Robin, Rory and Marie-Claire have all demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, deep sector expertise and a clear commitment to broker service. This new team structure supports a more focused approach as we aim to continue increasing both our scale and relevance to our brokers and mutual clients,” Mecham said.
Elsewhere for the insurer, Arch Insurance (EU) dac (AIEU) also revamped its leadership recently with the appointment of Duncan Smith as its new CEO.
