Arch Insurance International (Arch) has confirmed the promotion of Kirsten Valder to the position of deputy CEO, effective immediately.
Valder (pictured) will operate from the company’s London office, maintaining her direct reporting line to Hugh Sturgess, CEO of Arch Insurance International.
Valder’s responsibilities as deputy CEO will encompass the oversight of strategic initiatives and operations across the company’s global platforms, which include the London Market, UK Regional Market, Australia, Bermuda, and the EU.
Having been a key member of Arch’s senior leadership team for the past decade, Valder previously held the title of chief administrative officer, overseeing claims, legal, human resources, and compliance. Her tenure at Arch began after her stint as a partner at Kennedys Law LLP.
Sturgess noted Valder’s integral role in the company’s strategic expansion and her comprehensive expertise in both technical and market aspects of the business.
“Kirsten has played a leading role in the expansion of Arch Insurance International. Her deep understanding of our organisation coupled with her wealth of technical and market knowledge make her a natural fit for the role. Her appointment forms part of our ongoing growth plans as we look to boost our overall market position and amplify our value and offering to brokers and customers,” he said.
The announcement of Valder’s new role follows significant leadership changes in the company’s accident & health division.
