Legal expenses insurer ARAG UK has announced the appointment of Alan Jappy (pictured) as head of new business for corporate partnerships.

With more than two decades of experience in financial services, Jappy has held senior positions in business development and bid management at companies such as Allianz, BGL Group, and Gallagher.

Jappy’s background also includes a stint in the legal expenses insurance industry, where he served in a new business capacity at DAS UK from 2017 to 2020, prior to the firm’s acquisition by ARAG.

Partnerships & propositions director Jay Prosser commented on the roster addition, stating: “Alan has a fantastic record of developing new business for some of the biggest brands in insurance. We’ve worked together before, at DAS UK and BGL Group, and I’m delighted to welcome him back to join the ARAG team.

“He brings both sector-specific knowledge and broader market experience to the role, and I know he’ll be a great asset to ARAG.”

In his new role, Jappy will focus on expanding ARAG UK’s business by forging and strengthening partnerships with key corporate clients.

In the 2023 financial year, ARAG UK posted its 14th straight year in the black, with the firm’s profit amounting to £0.8 million.

Managing director Tony Buss previously declared: “I’m very pleased that we delivered another great result and successfully maintained our ‘business as usual’ while completing the pre-acquisition integration of DAS UK.

“Our core, BTE (before-the-event) legal expenses and assistance business grew very strongly, particularly for commercial customers, and our ATE (after-the-event) book is also performing well.

“ARAG’s overarching commitment to extending access to justice is underscored by the tens of thousands of people we have helped to rebuild their lives, who might otherwise have been left without recourse.”
