The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has announced the opening of its 2024 New Generation Programme, seeking 40 promising professionals to join its flagship talent initiative. This prestigious program is designed to nurture future leaders in the insurance sector and is now accepting entries.
The New Generation Programme is organized into four groups: claims, underwriting, broking, and London market. Each group will work on a project or initiative intended to make a “significant difference” in the insurance profession. These projects, which typically take about six months to complete, involve collaboration among group members from across the UK. Upon completion, they are presented to the CII Group Board. Past projects include the Traumatic and Distressing Claims report and the widely recognized Insurance Influencer campaign.
According to a company statement, participants in the New Generation Programme will benefit from a comprehensive suite of activities and opportunities, including:
Ian Callaghan, president of the CII Group, highlighted the value of the program, and said: “The CII’s New Generation Programme is an excellent opportunity for insurance professionals who have ideas and wish to spread their wings and influence the sector. The programme offers participants invaluable experience, exposure, and mentorship, as well as the chance to network and collaborate with their peers. We look forward keenly to welcoming this year’s cohort and once again benefit from the perspectives of the rich and diverse talent within our profession.”
Matthew Hill, chief executive of the CII Group, expressed pride in the initiative, saying, “We are immensely proud of our New Generation Programme, which provides up-and-coming professionals with the opportunity to pursue their areas of interest and influence the wider insurance sector. Now in its thirteenth year, the programme is part of the CII’s broader effort to find and nurture new insurance and financial planning professionals, including through apprenticeships, T levels, and our own world-class learning and qualifications. We warmly welcome applications from across the UK and look forward to supporting those joining us to pursue their ideas and interests.”
Applicants must demonstrate significant professional development and contributions to their teams or departments. Candidates should hold a minimum qualification of Dip CII and possess five to 10 years of experience in the general insurance profession. Membership in the CII and employment within insurance claims, broking, underwriting, or the London Market are required. The CII particularly encourages applications from underrepresented groups in the profession, such as women, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ community members, and individuals with both visible and invisible disabilities.
The application deadline for the 2024 New Generation Programme is Monday, August 19, 2024.
