Aon chief commercial officer Jane Kielty is succeeding Yutree director Laura Hancock as deputy chair of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA).
A former BIBA Young Broker of the Year, Kielty has been on the BIBA board since 2020 as chair of the insurance brokers’ standards committee. She will step into her wider remit in the New Year.
“I was honoured to be asked to take up the position of deputy chair,” shared Kielty. “I am as passionate as I ever was about insurance broking, and I hope in my new role I can continue to make a difference to BIBA members.
“Laura is a tough act to follow, but I am looking forward to the challenge.”
Meanwhile Hancock, a BIBA board member since 2017 and deputy chair from 2019, is “very proud” of what the trade body has achieved over the last five years. “I couldn’t be more pleased to have been a key part of it,” she said.
Commenting on the succession, BIBA chief executive Steve White cited Kielty’s “enormous” amount of experience, adding that the general insurance intermediary association is lucky to have her as part of the board.
White also stated: “Laura has made a fantastic contribution in her five years on the board, and I am most grateful to her for all her support. This is farewell, not goodbye, as she will continue to work closely with us as one of our member scheme providers.”
