Named after the first chairman of BIBA, the Francis Perkins Award is an annual highlight at the broking meeting. Now this year’s winner has been announced – in the form of Ian Crowder.
The idea behind the award is to recognise members of the association who give their time and energy to promoting the causes of the broking sector. Now Crowder has been chosen because of his “commitment, courtesy, collaboration and kindness.” He was described as an “enthusiastic advocate of BIBA” and a very worthy winner.
“In so many ways, Ian has become the authentic, authoritative and indispensable voice of insurance broking,” said outgoing chair Lord Hunt. “What I particularly admire is that he has never shied away from publicly tackling all and any questions, however knotty, complex or obscure, in his mission to enhance consumer understanding of our sector. I know how much my colleagues at BIBA have enjoyed working with him on both campaigns and committees, so I was really delighted to present the Francis Perkins Award 2019 to him.”
Crowder was with AA Insurance for 15 years and worked closely with BIBA on government campaigning issues. He recently retired.
