Meanwhile, James Drinkwater has been named executive chair of Amwins Global Risks and will retain his current position as president of Amwins.
Mathis was initially selected as interim CEO in September of this year after three years serving as chief operating officer. In his new role, he will oversee Amwins’ London business which represents more than $2 billion in placed premium, more than 550 employees and business from over 150 countries.
Commenting on Mathis’s appointment, Scott Purviance, chief executive officer of Amwins highlighted his invaluable leadership and contributions in London and said he is “thrilled” to have him take up this role on a permanent basis.
“We have incredibly talented brokerage teams across each of our specialties,” Purviance added, “and we are committed to growing our London platform.”
Mathis first joined Amwins in 2011 as part of its mergers and acquisitions team and in his first role with the independent wholesaler broker, he helped build its data and analytics capabilities.
