Insurance-sports partnerships are nothing new, but striking a deal with England certainly catches the eye.
It is this exposure that Allianz Insurance will be looking to capitalise on after being named the official insurance partner of England Rugby – meaning it will partner with both the men’s and women’s rugby teams. In addition, it will become the title partner of the Allianz Premier 15s, which begins on Saturday, and is the top women’s domestic rugby competition in the country.
“This commitment from Allianz will have a significant and positive impact on the continued success of our women and girls’ teams,” said Nicky Ponsford, head of women’s performance at the RFU. “Attracting a partner like Allianz is also a great honour and shows just how far the women’s game has developed.
“We’re also delighted they’ll be partnering our men’s and women’s England teams and also working across our community game. These are exciting times, and we look forward to working together.”
Allianz Insurance general manager, commercial and personal, Simon McGinn also noted his excitement at the partnership.
“Allianz has a longstanding history with this fantastic sport and we are looking forward to continuing our involvement through this new partnership,” he said.
“Our partnership with the RFU also provides us with an excellent new opportunity to support women’s sport, as we become the title partner of the Premier15s and Inner Warrior, the grassroots programme to encourage girls and women into sport.”
