Allianz UK has revealed that it has appointed John Berry to the role of director of underwriting and technical, personal lines.
Berry will lead the teams responsible for underwriting, pricing and portfolio management across all of the insurer's personal lines businesses including private car, household, commercial vehicle, animal health and legal protection, the firm announced this morning in a release.
Berry joined Allianz in 2015 as senior retail actuary and later became head of pricing, personal lines. Prior to joining Allianz, he worked for both Towers Watson and EMB as senior consultant covering retail lines in the UK and overseas.
Berry said in a statement that he is delighted to be appointed to the new role at what he called a "time of significant opportunity" for the business. "We are starting to realise the benefits of our significant investments in data and technology, which will ensure that we can deliver the highest quality of products to our customers at competitive prices," he added.
Chief underwriting officer, Neil Clutterbuck, added: "I am pleased to confirm John’s appointment. His experience, underwriting acumen and technical knowledge mean that he is extremely well placed to lead our personal lines technical team as we continue our journey to technical excellence.”
