Luke Baker (pictured) will step into the role early in the new year and lead the liability business across the UK, Ireland, the Middle East and the Nordics. He is set to have direct responsibility for the profitability of the portfolio while reporting to managing director of the regional unit of London and the Nordics, Alfredo Alonso, as well as global head of liability Ciara Brady.
“I’m delighted Luke is joining AGCS in our region,” Alonso said. “He is well known and respected in our markets and under his leadership, our liability team’s expertise and knowledge is perfectly placed to respond to the fast-growing liability exposures of modern businesses. His appointment demonstrates our continued commitment to our regional unit London and Nordics liability clients and brokers.”
Baker, who steps into the role previously held on an interim basis by Jon Prowse, who now returns to the position of executive liability underwriter and regional practice group leader liability for oil and gas, pharmchem and food and beverage, has spent 17 years in the industry. According to Brady, it is this wealth of experience – which includes stints with Generali, RSA, Willis and Marsh – that will benefit the company.
“His strong track record of delivery will support our drive for profitability while ensuring we continue to serve our customer through our wide range of general and specialist liability insurance solutions,” Brady said. “I very much look forward to welcoming him to the team and working together.”
