Insurance industry veteran Jonathan Gray has come out of retirement to join Lloyd’s insurer Advent as a consultant for its direct and facultative (D&F) property division.
Gray, who brings more than 40 years of underwriting experience to Advent, takes up his new role immediately, reporting to company CEO Nigel Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald said the insurer’s D&F business will certainly continue to go from strength to strength under Fitzgerald’s guidance.
“Jonathan brings an exceptional level of underwriting experience to Advent,” he said. “His contribution to the market has been immense and he will reinforce our D&F property offering by providing us with unparalleled insight and expertise in the sector.”
Advent is tapping Gray’s expertise to boost business growth amid persisting economic uncertainties following the Brexit vote.
“Today’s marketplace is undoubtedly difficult, however we have been here before and I believe we can underwrite successfully by working closely with our clients and London broking partners,” Fitzgerald said.
Prior to his retirement in 2015, Gray served as a director at
Beazley, where he led the open market property underwriting team in London.
Gray was also part of Beazley’s board of directors until June 2013. In February 2016, he was appointed as a non-executive director of AEGIS’s London board.
