Market leading specialist car insurance broker
Adrian Flux has today announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Manchester-based motor prosecution defence insurance specialist, Road Halo.
The deal will give Adrian Flux policyholders access to Road Halo’s pioneering product which is believed to be the only one on the market to offer assistance with fixed penalty offences (FPOs).
Typically, legal expense policies exclude FPOs, such as speeding, from cover, even though they represent the vast majority of motoring offences. Ministry of Justice figures show that last year of around one million motoring offences recorded, some 790,000 were dealt with through fixed penalty procedures. Currently some 2.8 million drivers hold points on their licences.
“Road Halo is an attractive proposition as it gives our policyholders access to specialist legal advice to which they would otherwise be denied when challenging a fixed penalty offence,” said Scott Goodliffe, Adrian Flux’s product and pricing manager. “Given fixed penalty offences account for the vast bulk of motoring misdemeanours the policy fulfils a significant need.”
Road Halo’s sales director Richard Davies said securing distribution through Adrian Flux highlighted the strength of the company’s proposition.
“Adrian Flux is one of the UK’s biggest and most highly respected specialist brokers, serving hundreds of thousands of policyholders,” he said. “It’s significant then that the company has chosen to add Road Halo to its portfolio. They see the benefit of giving those policyholders access to expert legal advice when they need it most, which might be when points are becoming an issue or a speed awareness course might be an alternative course of action.
“Our policy will also assist those facing allegations of more serious offences, where expert motoring legal advice may prove vital.”
The product is underwritten by Arc Legal Road Halo and offers up to £25,000 to cover the costs and disbursements of a specialist motoring solicitor. It also provides a helpline which offers legal advice in connection with all motoring offences with the exception of drink and drug driving.
