Car insurance provider
Admiral will be creating over 190 jobs after receiving a grant worth £668,500 from the Welsh government.
Under the business finance scheme, the grant will aid job creation as Admiral ventures into the personal lending market. Via an online platform, the company plans to offer a range of new products including personal loans and car finance.
A total of 193 customer service and sales jobs will be opened up. Of the more than 9,000 people employed by Admiral across eight countries, over 6,000 are in Wales.
“Admiral is committed to expanding its operations in Wales,” noted Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure. “We appreciate its continued presence as a major employer here, and consider this funding a worthwhile investment.”
Skates continued: “Welsh Government funding for this new range of products ensured the jobs are created and stay in Wales. I congratulate Admiral on its continued growth and job creation which is a great advertisement for service delivery in Wales.”
For Admiral chief financial officer Geraint Jones, Wales is one of the fastest growing financial services centres in the UK.
“Admiral is delighted to be able to launch its new venture into the lending market here in our home city of Cardiff,” he said.
