It seems there have been plenty of stories in recent weeks about insurance brokers closing branches and reshuffling their workforce – so it’s positive to read of a firm that’s actually managed to create jobs as it opens a new branch.
Abbey Insurance Brokers has become one of the key hirers in Northern Ireland, with 23 branches across the north and around 400 people employed. Now it has added another 10 jobs to the mix by opening a new branch in Enniskillen.
According to a report by
The Irish News, the branch will be the company’s first in Fermanagh after it took over from rival Open+ Direct earlier this year.
“As a company we consistently aim to be local, wherever we are, and by moving into Fermanagh we are doing just that,” Abbey Group chief executive Trevor Shaw told the publication. “I myself am from Fermanagh and it is a pleasure to bring the Abbey family to my home county and introduce what we do to the community here.
“Currently, one in every five cars in Northern Ireland is insured by Abbey, and we wanted to bring that level of trust and assurance to the people of Fermanagh.”
The insurance broker specialises in car, van, travel, home, taxi and motorbike insurance with its new premises based on Townhall Street and led by branch manager Emma McGoldrick.
