David Long is back in the saddle, having come out of retirement to serve as Howden’s equine division chair in London.
“With its strong association with the equestrian world, commitment to client and insurer relationships, industry-leading claims service, global footprint, and data & analytics capability, Howden is a true differentiator in the equine market, and was the only organisation I wanted to come out of retirement to join,” declared Long, who brings nearly four decades of bloodstock insurance market experience to Howden.
“I’m looking forward to working with the team, building on the existing book of clients, and identifying further opportunities to grow.”
Long’s credentials include founding specialist bloodstock and equine broker Howard Global Ltd. At Howden, he will be in charge of growing the company’s bloodstock client base, with a particular focus on the UK, the US, and Australasia.
“David’s appointment reflects our continued strategy to attract and recruit talented individuals to enhance the scale and depth of our equestrian insurance offering,” said Duncan Fraser, Howden’s global practice leader for sports & entertainment.
“Howden has established ties to the equestrian world, and our equine team has many years’ experience in designing products for equestrian businesses and horse owners around the world. We will continue to hire experienced individuals to provide more choice and a fresh alternative for equine clients.”
An official partner of Ascot racecourse, Howden arranges specialist equine insurance solutions for equestrian associations, racecourses, racehorse trainers, stud farms, riding schools, and horse owners. The firm’s equine team is said to be the only London-based broker that offers the whole suite of equine products (including commercial liability and property) to the market.
