The turn of the century sees Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) executives Bill Halligan (pictured above) and Meghan Walker (pictured below) change their job titles for the benefit of LSM’s aviation team.
First off, Halligan has been tapped to take on a newly created role designed for talented experts and highly experienced technical underwriters to maximise their skillset. The former head of aviation will now serve as underwriting specialist (aviation).
The new post means Halligan is stepping back to be the ‘go-to’ underwriter for the firm’s aviation product line – advising on technical direction and strategy as well as training and developing underwriters in their line of business.
“Bill is very well-known and respected in the aviation market,” noted Mike Gosselin, chief underwriting officer specialty at LSM. “His appointment as our first underwriting specialist (aviation) ensures Liberty can continue to benefit from his technical expertise, experience, and extensive market knowledge.”
Halligan will report to Meghan Walker, his successor who has been promoted to aviation head in the London market specialty division. An Aon and Lockton alumnus, Walker will be in charge of delivering LSM’s global aviation strategy and will lead and develop the aviation underwriting team.
Gosselin commented further: “Meghan’s promotion is well-deserved. Since joining LSM, she has proven herself to be an excellent underwriter; strong people leader; and very capable of building highly effective business relationships both internally and externally.”
Walker and Halligan have both been with LSM for seven years.
