Copart UK, a specialist in online vehicle remarketing and recycling, recently launched its new Operation Centre in St Helens, Merseyside, where it held its first auctions.

The site is the company’s second new centre to open this year, following a recent launch in Gloucester. The St Helens facility, located between Manchester and Liverpool, enhances Copart’s operational network in the northwest, increasing vehicle storage capacity by 50%.

The 16-acre site, previously leased by Cazoo, was acquired as part of Copart’s ongoing “Land and Expand” strategy, which focuses on securing additional land and enlarging existing locations. This strategy aims to accommodate growth, handle the increasing number of electric vehicles, and expand the company’s emergency response services.

St Helens joins Copart’s other recent Operation Centres in Corby, East Kilbride, and Gloucester, representing the fourth new facility opened by the company within the past 18 months.

Jane Pocock, CEO of Copart UK and Ireland, commented on the launch, noting that the first auctions at the St Helens site marked a significant step in Copart’s expansion.

“It’s been a very exciting week with the first auctions taking place at our St Helens site, which is strategically placed between Manchester and Liverpool and provides further storage capacity for up to 24,000 vehicles in the Northwest,” Pocock said.

Pocock stated that Copart’s growth strategy is focused on futureproofing “the business to support the needs of our customers, get even closer to our communities, and reduce road miles for our customers, buyers, and transport fleet.”

The St Helens Operation Centre will conduct auctions every Monday and Wednesday, offering a broad range of vehicles to customers each week.

Established in 2007, Copart UK manages over 500,000 vehicles annually through its online auctions, serving a wide range of clients, including finance companies, banks, dealers, fleets, rental car companies, the insurance industry, and various motor traders.
