Philanthropist Carole Nash OBE, founder of her namesake motorcycle insurance broker, was recognised as ‘Centenary Woman of the Year’ at the inaugural This Is Manchester Awards.

Introduced to celebrate 100 years of female suffrage, the recognition was bestowed upon Nash at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate for her work in the region. Known for supporting a number of charities in the area, the awardee is patron to both the Alderley Edge Music Festival and Bowden Music Festival.

“Carole made an immense contribution to both the insurance industry and her home city, so this award is a fitting tribute to reward her achievements,” commented Carole Nash chief executive Ian Donaldson. “Many of the staff who worked with Carole remain in the business today, which is testament to the amazing work she did building the company up from her kitchen more than 30 years ago.

“On behalf of everyone at Carole Nash, we would like to congratulate Carole on this fantastic accomplishment.”

The business, which has grown to a workforce of more than 400 people, was sold by Nash in 2006. With offices in Altrincham and Dublin, the broker provides cover for over 300,000 motorcycles in the UK and Ireland.
