British and Irish customers will continue to be provided with extended warranty cover from Allianz for their BMW, Mini, and BMW Motorrad vehicles.

A Motor Trader report said Allianz Worldwide Partners UK has signed a new five-year contract covering all BMW Group branded point-of-sale extended warranty packages – essentially renewing a longstanding partnership.

“Allianz Worldwide Partners has continually met our expectations and we are excited with future product and online developments that we are collaborating on,” said Steve Cann, BMW Group Financial Services’ general manager of insurance solutions, as quoted by the report.

Liz Grindell, head of warranty at Allianz Global Assistance in the UK, commented: “Our focus on product development and innovative digital marketing, combined with exemplary customer and BMW retailer network service delivery, remains at the core of our service.”

She continued: “We’re excited at the prospect of further collaboration with BMW Financial Services to continue this ethos over the coming years.”

Cann, on the other hand, said warranties must also recognise changing vehicle technologies such as electric cars.

“Our insured warranty product must deliver both value for money and unparalleled levels of protection,” he added.

Allianz reported an operating profit of €5.9 billion in the first half of 2017. All business segments saw increased total revenues, with net income attributable to shareholders up 17.9% to €3.8 billion.
