Allianz Group and car sharing operator Drivy Limited, which have existing partnerships in other European countries, have now teamed up in the UK.
Users – both vehicle owners and hirers – of Drivy (UK)’s peer-to-peer car hire platform will be provided fully comprehensive cover by Allianz Insurance for the duration of the rental. Not affecting owners’ no-claims bonus, the coverage protects them in the event of damage to the vehicle, as well as against damage or injury to a third party caused by the hirer. Drivers are also insured and have access to Drivy’s round-the-clock roadside assistance.
“Innovative insurance solutions are needed to support the growth of the sharing economy, and tailoring insurance cover is one way we can do this,” said Jonathan Dye, head of motor insurance at Allianz Insurance. “Attitudes to mobility are rapidly changing and it’s important that Allianz provides customers with options whether they own or rent vehicles.”
Also a partner of the AA, Drivy is present in France, Germany, Spain, Austria, and Belgium as well. The peer-to-peer car hire platform has 1.8 million users.
“Working with Allianz allows us to cement trust with our users as we roll out our car sharing service across the UK,” commented Drivy chief executive Paulin Dementhon. “Insurance is a key consideration for everyone – whether they are a car owner or driver on the road. So through Allianz we can ensure everyone is safely protected, however a car fits into today’s lifestyles.”
