Oceanview Reinsurance has announced the promotion of Stelian Dragan (pictured above) to the position of president and chief executive officer of its Bermuda operations. The appointment is effective immediately.

In his new role, Dragan will oversee Oceanview Re’s operations, focusing on expanding reinsurance solutions and enhancing the company’s position in the industry. Dragan joined the company as president and chief business development officer in April 2022.

His career spans more than 20 years in reinsurance and financial services, with experience in corporate development, strategic planning, and capital markets.

“Stelian has demonstrated exceptional leadership and vision at Oceanview Reinsurance,” said William Egan, chairman and CEO of Oceanview Holdings Ltd, parent company of Oceanview Re.

Egan highlighted Dragan’s understanding of the reinsurance market, familiarity with the company’s services, and strategic approach as key factors in his promotion.

Dragan’s professional background includes leadership roles at Athene Life Re, Bear Stearns, and Deutsche Bank Securities, where he focused on reinsurance solutions, strategic advisory, and capital markets. He earned an MBA in finance from Columbia University.

“I look forward to leading Oceanview Reinsurance as we continue to expand our offerings, deepen client relationships, and position ourselves as a leader in the global reinsurance market,” Dragan said. “My focus will be on innovation, client satisfaction, and operational excellence, ensuring that we continue to meet and exceed the expectations of our clients and stakeholders alike.”

In October, the reinsurer also appointed Michael C. Ward as its new vice president and chief financial officer (CFO).

Ward brings a wealth of experience in financial leadership, with over 16 years of experience in the reinsurance sector.

In his new role, Ward will be responsible for overseeing the company’s finance and reporting functions and support Oceanview Reinsurance’s strategic goals and ensure its commitment to financial excellence.
