PIC Insurance Brokers has appointed Graeme Edwards (pictured) as chief operating officer, marking a leadership transition within the company.

Edwards brings extensive industry experience, having previously held senior roles at Resolution Life, SBS Insurance, and AIA. In addition to his insurance background, he recently served as chief operating officer at Young and Healthy Charitable Trust, a New Zealand organisation focused on youth physical activity.

Commenting on his appointment, Edwards said he was eager to contribute to the firm’s ongoing development.

“PIC is a large-scale family business that genuinely cares about its clients so the opportunity to work across the whole business at a strategic level was too good to pass up,” he said.

His addition to the leadership team follows the recent promotion of Kristen Garner to chief executive officer.

Garner said Edwards’s expertise would support the company’s long-term strategic objectives.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Graeme’s calibre and experience joining PIC at an exciting time for our business,” she said.

PIC Insurance Brokers CEO

Garner, who has been with PIC for nearly two decades, officially assumed the role of CEO on Jan. 6. She has held key leadership positions within the company, including chief broking operations officer and head of product and process.

She takes over from Bruce Morrison, who had served as interim CEO for the past 10 months and will now return to his role as board chair.

Garner’s father, Mike Garner, founded PIC Insurance Brokers in 1989, and she said the company remains committed to strengthening client relationships and business partnerships.

“I’m proud to accept this opportunity and honoured to continue dad’s legacy at PIC,” she said, adding that the company’s focus remains on delivering quality service to its clients.

PIC joins Worldwide Broker Network

Alongside the leadership changes, PIC Insurance Brokers has expanded its global reach by joining the Worldwide Broker Network (WBN). As the sole New Zealand-based member, PIC joins more than 150 independent brokerage firms operating in over 100 countries.

The move strengthens PIC’s ability to support multinational clients and aligns with its existing partnerships with the Global Broker Network (GBN) and the Asia Australia Alliance (AAA).

WBN, which focuses on property-casualty and employee benefits insurance, will provide PIC with access to additional international markets.
