If you have commercial vehicle clients, you might wish to let them know that DT Driver Training has partnered with driving instructor Duncan Seed of 2 Drive Safe Rider and Driver Training to produce an online course that will help drivers avoid costly disputes between injured parties and their insurers in the event of an accident.
According to DT Driver Training, many road traffic accidents occur when vehicles collide at relatively low speeds – and these can result in serious neck and back injuries for a driver.
“Costs can also mount up for businesses through lost productivity, additional administration and vehicle repairs,” DT Driver Training director Darren Cottingham said.
“Vehicle leasing companies claim the average fleet vehicle endures from $1,000-$2,000 worth of damage in its three-year life cycle. Multiply this by the number of vehicles in your fleet and the costs can sky rocket.”
Cottingham noted that Kiwis have poor technique when it comes to manoeuvring at low-speed, knowing how and where to park, and how to avoid damaging wheels and panels when in tight spaces.
“By learning some simple tricks for how to set up and position your car when parking and reversing, you’ll keep your money from the panel beaters,” he added.
The course, Low-speed Manoeuvring and Towing, is available from driving tests.co.nz for $25 for one year’s access for a driver.
