Cigna New Zealand has finalized its rebranding after its earlier acquisition, with the NZ insurer now going by the name of Chubb Life Insurance New Zealand Limited, or Chubb Life NZ. As of yesterday, the insurer has also started to operate under Chubb’s global brand.
Customers, independent financial advisers and business partners have responded positively to the new brand, Chubb Life NZ chief executive Gail Costa said in a statement. She said that all three stand to benefit from Chubb Life’s international expertise, innovation, and technology.
"After confirming the sale of the business with customers last year, we're getting in touch this month to tell them about the name change and how much we're looking forward to looking out for them with our comprehensive range of insurance products," Costa said.
The rebranding took less than nine months and was an effort that employed everyone in the business, Costa said.
“It's a huge milestone and I'm proud that we'll be able to continue to help New Zealanders protect what matters most as part of Chubb's global family,” Costa said.
Chubb Group senior vice president and Chubb Life president Bryce Johns said that he believes that New Zealand is an important growth market for Chubb.
"We're really excited about building on the break-out success that the business has had in enabling New Zealanders to access market leading life cover, and quality financial advice – especially in such turbulent times,” Johns said.
The rebranding comes after Cubb’s July 1, 2022 acquisition of the life and non-life insurance companies of Cigna in six Asia-Pacific markets, including New Zealand. As the world’s largest publicly traded property and casualty insurer, this addition of Cigna’s personal accident, health, and life insurance business advances Chubb’s strategy to expand its presence within the APAC region.
The then-named Cigna NZ recently offered two-month premium waivers for those severely affected by the recent extreme weather events in New Zealand.
