Perhaps of most interest here in New Zealand is that William Song has been appointed as the head of Munich Re Syndicate in China and director of underwriting for Munich Re Underwriting Division at Lloyd’s Insurance Company (China) Ltd. Based in Beijing, Song brings a wealth of experience spanning 25 years - he is a certified insurance professional in Australia and a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). His most recent senior positions include head of the China mainland team for Aon Benfield, and assistant general manager for Kunlun Insurance Brokers Co. Ltd.
Tony Betteridge has been promoted to head of marine. Based in Singapore, his responsibilities include cargo, project cargo, hull and marine liability. Betteridge brings with him more than 40 years of marine industry experience, including seafaring, risk engineering and underwriting, of which he spent the last 20 in the Asia-Pacific region.
Joel Pridmore, meanwhile, is Munich Re Syndicate Asia’s new head of financial lines and business development. In his new role, Pridmore will be responsible for building the Syndicate’s portfolio in financial lines and the business development for other classes in Asia. Singapore-based Pridmore joined Munich Re in Australia in 2014 having previously held various underwriting and portfolio management roles with AIG, Liberty and Zurich.
The new appointees will report to Munich Re Syndicate Asia head Celine Ang.
