The Collision Repair Apprentice of the Year award was presented to both Cameron Fairless from Hart’s Body Shop in Palmerston North and Dylan McGinnity from Ashton Panel and Paint in Lower Hutt – both training as panelbeaters and were recognised for their “exemplary attitude to learn and apply their skills.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Crowe from the Glass Man in New Plymouth was named Glazing Apprentice of the Year in Hamilton, and Vienna Kupa from Breen Construction in Wanaka was named Building Apprentice of the Year in Christchurch.
The awards aim to celebrate graduates and inductees in a number of apprenticeship categories – including building, management, collision repair, and glazing.
Aside from providing financial backing by paying the winners’ tuition and apprentice fees, IAG also works with their partners to ensure that the winners will receive support to help them improve in their craft and succeed in the sector.
“It’s just fantastic to see so many keen apprentices and management trainees taking up the vocation,” said John O’Rourke, motor assessing performance manager at IAG.
“This year’s IAG apprentices are spread across the country, with particularly strong representation in the regions, meaning these communities will continue to be supported with highly-skilled and trained apprentices.”
